Day 4 - Dance

I grew up as a ballerina, and came back to it in my 30’s; becoming a dance teacher and reactivating a creative outlet I had been missing.

It was around the same time that I started running.
And oddly enough, I realized how much they had in common.
Not in form,
Or artistic expression,
Or stamina,
But in how it made me feel - JOYFUL.

in that comparison, I realized that, as a child, I had innately found joyful movement.

I had chosen dance because it made me feel good.
And because it felt good, I stuck with it.
Because I stuck with it, I grew and developed and face new challenges as I continued to expand.

It never became “easy”, but a welcome way for me to meet myself where I was - vulnerably, learning to release expectation, and allowing it to be my truest form of expression.

Running has become the same.

And because of both of those relationships (with arguably very different movement styles), I’ve been able to develop this relationship with movement, in general.

Movement is allowed to be joyful.
Movement is SUPPOSED to be joyful.
